Professional artist and illustrator. Born in Kazakhstan, I received a Master’s degree in fine art from the Moscow School of Applied Arts, where I also studied World History of Art and Design. After graduating I began my career as a painter and my pieces were displayed and sold in exhibitions in Moscow and some cities in Europe.
After relocating to Toronto, Canada, I began a new career as an artist and illustrator. My artistic abilities have been recognized through numerous national and international awards for illustrations, design and photography.
I am very interested in world history and traditional applied arts. I like to change the reality in which I live and move from one country to another.
For the last two years I have been living and working in Bar, Montenegro.
Through my personal work, I seek to create enchanting, curious and captivating art, which stems from a certain emotional, historical or cultural approach.
People often tell me that my art is dark. I would call it rather disturbing. There is pain in my works, but you can also find some irony and even humour there.
My works are parables. They are always metaphorical. Each of them is an invitation to dialogue.
I talk about the secrets of the human soul, I like to create deep, contradictory characters.
Why are they often dark? Because our bright sides are always in sight. I'm interested in showing what is deeply hidden. I want to achieve multi-layeredness in my works; I want the viewer to choose which layer to go deeper into.
My art, while having a certain idea behind it, is free to be interpreted on a very individual basis and does not necessarily fall under a specific description, nor is it destined to be any one genre of art.
When the work is finished, it no longer matters what the artist wanted to say, what matters is what the viewer saw. Even if there are dozens of different interpretations, I am sure that each of them is absolutely correct.
